Diwali in Fiji 2026

Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, is one of Fiji's biggest celebrations and a national public holiday, observed this year on Monday 9 November. Fiji's large Indo-Fijian community marks it with oil lamps and lights on homes, family gatherings, sweets shared between neighbours and fireworks, with the festive mood most visible in towns such as Lautoka, Nadi, Suva and Labasa. Many shops, markets and offices close for the day and transport can be busy around it, so plan arrivals, transfers and tours with that in mind.
